I highly recommend it to all those young teenagers who are just starting to learn the "how to". I purchase the progressive veetable/french fry cutter for my 14 year old daughter who is now attending a specialized culinary art high school, enjoying her H.S years in becoming a chef. This is a wonder product and very well suitable for slicing quick veggies and fries. great product.I give it 4 1/2 stars. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.RESPECTFULLY,ADELAIDA
My daughter and I were not able to use this cutter at all. You've got to have a lot of muscle to push anything through the blades, and we simply couldn't do it at all.
The cutter works great - the smaller size is better. Makes great french fries and comes apart nicely so can clean it - great product.
But not a big sacrifice to get perfect fries everytime. I bought this item more than 8 years ago. Cleaning is no big deal. Still works like a champ. You have to cut the potatoes to a smaller size to fit. Take it a part, rinse the pieces and pop into the diswasher on the top rack. Put back together and keep going.
I had an old french fry cutter that I finally tossed because it was rusty (yuck). This time it didn't fly away. It would be nice if the base was just an inch longer but for the price, I will cut my potatoes in half. I am surprised that some people wrote that it takes quite a bit of force. In fact, I prefer the shorter, stumpier fries. I was expecting it to take some muscle, so I put my potato in there and gave it a hefty pull. I got this one, and have to say that I am very happy with it. I am a 55-year-old, 100 pound lady, not the incredible hulk.
The potato went through like butter and flew halfway across the counter. I didn't hardly use any force on the next spud, and it went through like butter again. It still makes nice size fries. They look more homemade and fit on a plate better.
